Areas of Practice

Termination of Employment

An employee’s rights after a termination of employment depends on numerous factors such as whether they worked in a provincially or federally regulated workplace, whether there was just cause for the termination, the type of employment, the availability of similar work, as well as the employee’s age and years of service. I can help you understand if you are entitled to more than your former employer is offering you or if you have a viable avenue for seeking reinstatement to your position.

Employment Contract Review

Considering how important work is to our lives, an employment contract has the potential to be one of the most important legal documents that you may ever sign. I can help you understand what you are signing onto and whether you may be signing away any of your rights.

Human Rights at Work

It is long past time for workplaces that are free from discrimination and harassment. I can help you understand your rights and stand up for yourself.

“We must all obey the great law of change. It is the most powerful law of nature.”

– Edmund Burke

Getting Started

Complete the quick intake form so I can check for conflicts and confirm whether Livelihood Legal is able to assist. If I can proceed, I will email you next steps (typically within 1 business day).

What to expect:

  1. The first step is a conflicts check and initial screening. I can’t confirm representation until we have both signed an engagement letter.

  2. The next step depends on the issue, and is typically one of the following:

    • Termination / severance offer: a document-based written assessment (I review key documents and provide a written assessment of your offer and options).

    • Other workplace issues: an advice-focused consultation meeting to assess your situation and recommend next steps.

  3. Next, we can decide together whether further work is needed and, if so, the best path forward.

Fee arrangements and the scope of the service will be confirmed in a written engagement letter before any paid work begins.

If you have a deadline within the next 3 business days, please email info@livelihoodlegal.ca immediately after submitting the form and include the deadline date in the subject line.
